I like a hands on practical approach to my work, with experimentation and exploration into various ways of mark and pattern making being the source for most of my inspiration. My designs are an eclectic mix of retro stylings and graphical shapes which incorporate the use of different medias. A current theme explored and redefined the uses of stitch, and showed a strong craft based approach to designing. Below is a showcase of various pieces of my work:

These bowls were constructed using layers of stitch and parts of digital printed pieces of fabrics (which have a stitch print), created for part of my final degree show. My concept involved exploration into the art of stitch and using it in alien ways; in this case to take simple threads and fabric and transform them into solid vessels.

Here is a series of photograms which were also created for part of my final degree show. I used stitch and fabric textures to create strong contrasting photographic images.

These sets of plates incorporated stitch onto a hard surface, here I designed my motifs on my sewing machine then used digital decal transfers to apply them to ceramics.

This digital textile print pattern incorporates the stitch motif applied to the previous pieces. I can see this print being suitable for interiors possibly furnishings or wall panel pieces but used sparingly as it is quite a busy design.

This digital textile print was inspired by a typography project of mine which involved the inside parts of a walkman and a darkroom. With these tools I created a mechanical interpretication of the english aplhabet, which lead me to design this boldly coloured repeat textile piece.

The title of this piece speaks for itself, using fabric layering and stitch I created this textured sample.

This teacup set incorporates the embroidered piece from above with safety pins to create the motifs used for the decal transfers which were applied to these ceramics.

Blue Hex embroidered piece is a long length of stitched fabric which incorporates screen printed silk pieces of fabric, it is a decorative piece of hard rigid texture. These silk pieces of fabric are also the motifs which appear on the ceramic pieces.
